Thursday, December 30, 2004 Backup System Few minutes ago, I was looking for my masters first draft of my thesis and realized that I have deleted the wrong file yesterday. My document was lost and when I do a backup retrieval I noticed I don't have the final copy of my thesis. The one I managed to retrieve was not the updated version. My backup system was ran before any modification was done to the file. *Sigh* I did emailed my lecturer yesterday attaching the file to her, right now I'm asking her to forward the mail back to me. I have even deleted the Sent Items in my Outlook, so I can't get a copy of the mail.Suddenly, I realized I should have the cached version of my thesis. I then used my Google Desktop Search tool and I managed to get the cached version of it. I have all the information from the cached file, I added those information back to my word document. *Phew* From my Google Desktop Search, the file attachment size that I sent to my lecturer was 172 KB. The file I have now is 162 KB. But what the heck...the copy I have is good enough. I shall wait for her to forward me the original file. I finally realized the importance of a backup system. Cheerz, Su Ling

Wednesday, December 22, 2004 All for love All for love by Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart & StingI have another version by Bryan Adams and Pavarotti. I like both of them. Hmm...I think I prefer the one with Pavarotti. Both songs are repeating over and over again in my WMP. Lyric: When it's love you give (I'll be a man of good faith.) then in love you live. (I'll make a stand. I won't break.) I'll be the rock you can build on, be there when you're old, to have and to hold. When there's love inside (I swear I'll always be strong.) then there's a reason why. (I'll prove to you we belong.) I'll be the one that protects you from the wind and the rain, from the hurt and pain. Let's make it all for one and all for love. Let the one you hold be the one you want, the one you need, 'cause when it's all for one it's one for all. When there's someone that should know then just let your feelings show and make it all for one and all for love. When it's love you make (I'll be the fire in your night.) then it's love you take. (I will defend, I will fight.) I'll be there when you need me. When honor's at stake, this vow I will make: that it's all for one and all for love. Let the one you hold be the one you want, the one you need, 'cause when it's all for one it's one for all. When there's someone that should know then just let your feelings show and make it all for one and all for love. Don't lay our love to rest 'cause we could stand up to you test. We got everything and more than we had planned, more than the rivers that run the land. We've got it all in our hands. Now it's all for one and all for love. (It's all for love.) Let the one you hold be the one you want, the one you need, 'cause when it's all for one it's one for all. (It's one for all.) When there's someone that should know then just let your feelings show. When there's someone that you want, when there's someone that you need let's make it all, all for one and all for love.

Thursday, December 16, 2004 Thursday..Friday...weekend.. I was at the Graduate Dinner 2004 last night and I met this long long long friend I have not seen for like 10 years...Anyway, she was sitting at the table infront of me and throughout the night both of us were like looking at each another trying to figure out "where have I seen this girl before"...Finally, during the end of the dinner I met her outside the hotel lobby and she came to me and ask me a question "Are you from Convent?" I was like YES! Haha! What a small world! Apparently, she is doing her masters too. Why everyone is doing their masters nowadays? Is like everywhere I go...I bump into friends who are doing thier masters.Oh...anyway...the dinner was good. :) Can't wait for the weekend....I am feeling so sleepy... *sigh* I have meeting tomorrow morning at 7 AM again. Have fun all during the weekends...
Monday, December 13, 2004 Why kill Carmen? Here's the story of Carmen a bit different from the one written in my program book but the story is still the same.Carmen Synopses ACT I Soldiers and townspeople mill around in a square in Seville. A young peasant girl, Micaela, asks the soldiers if they have seen her sweetheart, Don José. Telling her he'll be back soon, they try to persuade her to stay with them, but she declines. The relief soldiers, including Don José, arrive. Factory bells ring, and a group of cigarette girls emerges from the factory where they work, including the popular gypsy beauty, Carmen. She focuses her attention on Don José, who pretends not to notice. Before leaving, she seductively tosses a flower at him. Alone, Don José recovers the flower and reflects on Carmen's charms. Micaela finds him and delivers both a letter and a chaste kiss from his mother, who asks her son to marry Micaela. Don José promises his love and fidelity to Micaela, despite the temptations of Carmen. A ruckus erupts from the cigarette factory. Carmen has injured another woman, and the officer Zuniga commands Don José to jail Carmen. But Don José succumbs to her charms. He agrees to a rendezvous and lets Carmen escape. ACT II At Lillas Pastia's inn, Carmen and her friends Frasquita and Mercedes consort with Zuniga and other soldiers. A group of revelers arrives, celebrating Escamillo, the illustrious bullfighter. The crowd cheers as Escamillo boasts of his victories. He notices Carmen, but she remains indifferent. Zuniga, also smitten, tells Carmen that he plans to return to the inn later to visit her. When the crowd disperses, the smugglers Remendado and Dancairo try to enlist the aid of Carmen, Frasquita, and Mercedes. Mercedes and Frasquita agree to help them smuggle contraband, but Carmen, expecting Don José, wants to stay at the inn. Don José arrives, and Carmen dances for him. But distant bugles signal him to return to his quarters and he prepares to leave. Carmen mocks his obedience and encourages him to run away with her and lead the free gypsy life. Don José remains unconvinced until Zuniga returns to the inn seeking Carmen. In a jealous rage, Don José defies his officer's orders to leave. As the smugglers pounce on Zuniga and escort him out of the inn, Don José has no choice but to remain with the gypsies. ACT III At the mountain hideout of the smugglers, Don José longs for his mother, who still believes him an honest man. Carmen taunts him and urges him to leave, but he refuses. Frasquita and Mercedes tell their fortunes with a deck of cards. When Carmen takes her turn, the cards foretell death for her and Don José. The gypsies set off to smuggle contraband, leaving Don José behind to guard the camp. Micaela arrives at the mountain hideout searching for Don José and hides among the rocks. Escamillo approaches the camp looking for Carmen. He and Don José exchange words and begin to fight. But the smugglers return in time to stop Don José from wounding Escamillo, who invites them all to the bullfight in Seville. Her hiding place discovered, Micaela begs Don José to return home to his mother, who is dying. Despite his violent jealousy, Don José leaves with Micaela. ACT IV At the bullfight, a crowd gathers to watch the procession of toreadors. Escamillo and Carmen arrive together. Mercedes and Frasquita warn Carmen that Don José is lurking about. Carmen, unafraid, waits alone for Don José. He approaches and begs her to leave with him. She insists that their affair is over, that she does not love him anymore, and that she now loves Escamillo. As Don José's demands become more desperate, Carmen throws at him the ring he once gave her. Don José murders Carmen, while the crowd inside the bullring cheers Escamillo. I don't what to blog about..Well, I have really a lot sleep yesterday. Happy to get so much sleep except that I have a lot of reports to prepare for today, was suppose to do some work last night. *Haiz* On other news, I will be going to Equatorial Hotel for dinner this Wednesday. And also probably going down south this weekend. Everything still undecided..need to get back to writting my *boring* report for year end performance review. Have a good day at work!
Friday, December 10, 2004 Christmas is around the corner It's the weekend again. I hope I have enough rest this weekend.Gonna have my department team building later at 3.30 PM. We are going to play some games. Some of the games seem weird to be played in the cafeteria. After that, all of them will be going to Victoria Station for dinner. I won't be able to join them. Going to watch Carmen tonight. "Georges Bizet’s Carmen is a tale about obsessive love and the dramatic, emotional, musical story of a fiery Gypsy girl called Carmen which was based on a novella by Prosper Mérimée. Bizet set his story to wonderful and stirring music, drew upon typical Spanish themes and rhythms and set it all to French words." - Galaxie On other note, I need to concentrate on my masters research paper proposal. *sigh* Where am I gonna find time for that? I'm always busy with other stuffs. Lovely Christmas Cake from Gurney Hotel. This picture was taken last Tuesday night, I was there to have dinner. Hope everyone have a good weekend. Cheerz!

Saturday, December 04, 2004 Friday Lunch I had banana leaf for lunch at this restaurant called Inniras - the best banana leaf restaurant in town. :) Anyway, just wanted to blog bout' the mango lassi I had. Mango lassi is one of my fav drink. Just mango lassi and not other lassi like banana or strawberry lassi. Mango lassi can get me HIGH! I just love this drink so much. Whenever there is mango lassi, I will never be able to resist it. I just LOVE mango lassi. But I heard the best lassi in town is in another restaurant near a temple. I'll have to check that out one day. After lunch, we had this dessert called something like 'Payasam' or something like that. The dessert was yellow in color or rather it looked like mustard. What's in the dessert? Well there were cashew nuts, raisins, tiny grapes(I think so), some yellow cendol look-a-like..no idea what is that..Anyway, the dessert was good and it reminded me of something I have eaten before but I just couldn't think what it was. The dessert was on the house. According to my friend, every Friday in any Indian restaurant you get dessert for free. Then, I started questionning him why? why Friday? Then, he said Friday is a holy day. Again..I asked what does the holy day gotta do with the free dessert. He again said that it's because is a holy day. Again, I can't seem to find the logic behind the holy day and the free dessert. So I finally concluded and said to him, "It has to be..they cooked the dessert to pray(just like the Chinese) then after the prayers, they would give out the dessert to the people so that the people who ate the dessert will be blessed." Haha! I think he was speechless with me! I slept pretty early last night, I was really tired after hiking. Or was it the tau foo fa for dessert. I love dessert a lot. Cheesecake is still the #1 dessert! I think I can have dessert for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Just like someone I know would have chicken rice for all the 3 meals. I will be going out in an hour time. Thinking of what to eat for lunch? Tough question... Have a good weekend everyone!
Thursday, December 02, 2004 Thursday Sick and hungry...waiting to finish some work and then go home.On other note, it's Friday tomorrow which means weekend is around the corner. At night will be goin for a Jazz festival in Batu Feringgi. ![]() I better stay home on Sunday. But one of my friend ask me out for lunch.
